For those attending The Procession Preview Gala on October 18th Theatre Bizarre is honored. It will be our pleasure to welcome you to this inaugural celebration of the season proceeding into The Greatest Masquerade on Earth.
We hope this evening will bring you closer into the macabre spectacle we create as we roister and rollick throughout the night – a night brimming with many indulgences and surprises under a full moon.
We wish to express our appreciation for your generous support of Theatre Bizarre and the arts community in Detroit. Part of the proceeds of your Preview Gala ticket will assist us in receiving our grant from the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation, for which we truly thank you.
The Procession Preview Gala is a costume-mandatory masquerade event. To ensure the quality of the event and the experience of our patrons, dress attire and masks are required for all in attendance.
Attire: Formal or semi-formal attire is required–tuxedos or suits for men and formal masquerade gowns or corset dresses for women. Guests may also wear wigs, hats and makeup, but these should be appropriate for a formal setting. (ie – powdered wigs for women and period-style hats for men.)
Examples: Black Tie, Formal, Secret Society, Venetian Carnival, Aristocratic, Steampunk, Historical, Masquerade, Period-wear, Gothic dress or Fashion chic is acceptable. Variations on these themes are encouraged.
No jeans, sneakers or T-shirts.
Masquerade masks can be small pieces that only cover the eyes to large masks that may include oversized noses, beaks or feathers. It is best to choose a mask that does not cover your mouth so that you may eat and drink easily. No character / monster / zombie / hero / novelty costume or related masks will be allowed. You cannot substitute makeup for a mask.
(Note: Any cross-dressing still must adhere to the dress code.)
This will be a refined, mysterious, and beautiful evening while still immersing you in the environment you have come to appreciate and expect from Theatre Bizarre over the years. You will enjoy select performances from past years, highlights from this year, as well as exclusive sets crafted especially for this night only. You will be led through a trail of fire-eaters, award-winning burlesque performers and musical acts as they follow the evening’s path through this historic site.
